Lochlann O'Mearáin was born on 8 August 1973 in Killiney, County Dublin, Ireland. While he is probably most familiar to US audiences for his role as Rohan on Mystic Knights of Tir na Nog, he has numerous stage and screen credits in his native Ireland, most recently appearing in the 2025 London stage adaptation of Sing Street, as well as on the series Harry Wild, alongside Jane Seymour.

In the opening credits sequence for Mystic Knights, his name is spelled as “Lochlainn O'Mearain” until the episode The Trial of Angus, where the ‘i’ is dropped from his first name, and remains as such for the rest of the series; the US VHS release also uses the spelling “Lochlann O'Mearain”.
