Synopsis[]
Rohan must embrace his destiny to defeat Queen Maeve once and for all.
Plot[]
While Rohan is away searching for Lugad, the other Mystic Knights are away searching for Rohan, Cathbad and the King are kidnapped by Maeve and thrown into a tower.
When the other Mystic Knights return, they run right into the hands of Torc and his men. They are subsequently taken to the castle and imprisoned in the dungeon.
Meanwhile, Rohan, in Pyre's cave, talks to the dragon. An old man appears and offers Rohan a deal. The old man has Maeve's chalice. Rohan agrees to the bargain and returns to Kells, where he dresses like a Temra soldier and sneaks into the castle, where Maeve is asking her soldiers to burn the furnishings and build her a new throne so she can rule Kells. His presence surprises her and his deal surprises her even more. The deal is that if Rohan wins, he gets Kells; if Maeve wins, she gets the chalice. She agrees and they fight.
Lugad, meanwhile, is freeing the other Mystic Knights. They race into the throne room where Maeve and Rohan are fighting. They want to help, but Rohan tells them not to, stating this is his fight and his alone. Maeve then gets the upper hand when she knocks her son's sword from his hand. She then asks Lugad to get Rohan's sword. He does, but he gives it back to his brother instead. He has no intentions to hurt his brother this time, but to help him. Surprised that her own flesh and blood would turn against her, Maeve summons all of her power and transforms herself into a Naga (a half-woman, half-snake magical creature) and attacks using magic. Rohan tries his Battle Fury armor, to no avail.
Lugad realizes his half-brother needs help. The other knights also believe their leader needs help. They too call their armor and all attack Maeve. Eventually, Maeve is drained of power and defeated, and it was all done through her own family, something Ivar notes immediately: Maeve not only feared both Rohan and Lugad together, but both of them turning against her in the name of good. When Torc sees this and calls Lugad out for "joining the losing side", Angus calls his remarks big words for a man whose queen's been defeated. He and his army flee in terror. The other Knights want to stop them, but Rohan stops them by saying that with Maeve completely defeated, the Temrans are no longer a threat. The king and Cathbad are freed and Kells is returned to its proper ruler. The old man appears and reveals himself to be Nemain and escapes with the chalice. King Conchobar banishes Maeve to the island of Tor Mor, to be taken there by Angus and Pyre. Lugad departs, though not before the King says that Lugad is welcome anytime in Kells.
Meanwhile, Mider suggests to Nemain an alliance to rule the island, and she says that she'll have to think about it.
